Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy were both assassinated while in office. Both men were shot in the head by lone gunmen who were later killed. There are many other similarities between the two assassinations, including the timing of the events and the aftermath.

Abraham Lincoln was shot on April 14, 1865, just five days after Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House. John Kennedy was shot on November 22, 1963, just two days after Cuban leader Fidel Castro declared victory in the Cuban Revolution.

Both presidents were shot on Fridays and both men died from their wounds the following day. Abraham Lincoln was shot in Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., while John Kennedy was shot while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas.

After Abraham Lincoln was shot, his assassin, John Wilkes Booth, was hunted down and killed by Union soldiers. Kennedy’s assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was shot and killed by nightclub owner Jack Ruby two days after Kennedy’s death.

There are many other similarities between the two assassinations, including the fact that both men were shot in the head by lone gunmen. Abraham Lincoln’s assassination also led to increased security for future presidents. John Kennedy’s assassination is often cited as a factor in the passage of gun control legislation in the United States.

“People love conspiracy theories,” as Neil Armstrong once so simply yet eloquently put it (Neil). We as humans seem to have nothing better to do with our time, and we look deeper into circumstances than ever before in order to find something to call a conspiracy. This “conspiracy” that we’ll look at, whether it’s real or not, has some very eerie parallels between the John F Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln assassination assassins and their assassinations.

Abraham Lincoln was our 16th president and is considered by most, to be one of the best presidents in our nation’s history. He was born on February 12th, 1809 and died Abraham 65 years later on April 15th, 1865. Abraham was assassinated while attending a play at Ford’s Theater in Washington D.C. by John Wilkes Booth, an actor who strongly believed in slavery and was willing to kill for his cause (Noyes).

John Kennedy, our 35th president, was born into a wealthy family on May 29th 1917 and assassinated also at the age of 46 on November 22nd 1963. While riding through Dealey Plaza in an open-topped car with his wife Jackie, he was shot by sniper, Lee Harvey Oswald (“The JFK Assassination”). Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and John Kennedy a Democrat but that is not all they had in common.

Abraham Lincoln stood 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed around 180 pounds while John Kennedy was 6 feet tall and weighed approximately 175 pounds, both slender men (Noyes). They were both married to women who lost children while they were in office, Abraham losing his son Willie to typhoid fever and John losing his infant son Patrick to Addison’s Disease shortly after birth.

Abraham had one daughter with wife Mary Todd called Robert Todd Lincoln who went on to live an eerily similar life to that of JFK’s son John F. Kennedy Jr.. Both Abraham and JFK were shot in the head; Abraham on the left side and JFK on the right. Oswald was also shot in the head before he could be put on trial by Jack Ruby. Robert Todd Lincoln was present at the assassinations of Abraham Garfield and James A. Garfield as well as being at the site of William McKinley’s assassination attempt, all presidents preceding him (Noyes).

Lincoln’s assassination has inspired many conspiracy theories. The most popular one claims that he was murdered as part of a larger plot to remove him from the political race, with the help of several government officials and military veterans. Lincoln was shot on April 15, 1865, by John Wilkes Booth (Friedrich).

Furthermore, the man who shot video of John F. Kennedy’s assassination was named Abraham (Jura). In conclusion, there are several eerie parallels between the John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln assassinators and murders, as well as other strange elements. Whether you think it’s a conspiracy or not, you can’t deny that these occurrences seem to be lining up.

I think Abraham Lincoln said it best when he said, “The hand of Providence has been so conspicuous in all this, that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith, and more than wicked, that has not gratitude enough to acknowledge his obligations… but let us not forget the source from which every good and perfect gift cometh”. Was Abraham Lincoln trying to tell us something? Only time will tell.

Mary Todd Lincoln, his wife, was at Ford’s Theater that night with her husband and a twenty-eight-year-old officer named Major Henry R. Rathbone, as well as Clara Harris, his fiancee. After the performance had started, someone entered the presidential box with a pistol and shot Abe. Abe slumped forward after being shot.

The assassin, John Wilkes Booth, dropped his gun and brandished a dagger. Rathbone rushed at him, and although he was injured in the arm, he compelled the murderer to the ledge. Booth fled out the back door on horseback after injuring himself with his injury.

Abraham Lincoln was the first American president to be assassinated. John F. Kennedy was the thirty-fifth American president, elected in 1960. Kennedy was with his wife Jacqueline, and Texas governor John Connally and his wife Nellie when he was fatally shot by Abraham Zapruder.

Abraham Zapruder was a Jewish-American clothing manufacturer who witnessed the assassination of President John F. Kennedy while filming the event with an 8 mm home movie camera. His 26.6 seconds of 8 mm film footage captured Abraham Zapruder’s JFK Assassination Film is the most complete visual record of the John F. Kennedy assassination.

Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy were both assassinated while in office. Both presidents were shot in the head while riding in open cars.
